Memorial Day Ceremony - At Battleship Cove

Remember, honor and celebrate those who gave their lives to ensure the freedom we now enjoy on May 26, 2025 at Battleship Cove for an official commemoration ceremony. Experience a traditional military observance, honoring the fallen and Gold Star Families at 12:00pm with the raising of the American flag from half-staff and a 21-gun salute. The ceremony is open to the public at no charge.

Admission to see the ships can be purchased online or at the visitor center when you arrive. FREE general admission for Veterans, Active Military, Guard and Reserve Members May 26, 2025.
Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971.
 
Battleship Cove preserves the world’s largest collection of historic naval ships and serves as the official memorial for all Massachusetts service personnel who gave their lives in World War II, and the Korean, Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars and September 11, 2001. Preserving five National Historic Landmark naval vessels, Battleship Cove also delivers educational programs exposing youths to a mission promoting duty, and honoring country.
