Studio Playground

Studio Playground is a non profit organization that offers acting classes based in Clown and play. Clowning is an approach to acting that invites students to come as they are, play ferociously, and celebrate themselves. Our classes provide an inclusive environment for school-aged children to explore improvisation and physical acting. We integrate core concepts of social-emotional learning with quality theatre education. As students learn fundamental actor tools, they develop confidence and range of expression. Studio Playground is dedicated to fostering community and individual growth for children in northern Rhode Island by using the performing arts as a mechanism for social change. We believe all children deserve opportunities for creative enrichments and social-emotional learning benefits derived from arts education programs. Lacking access to programs that build confidence and social awareness divides community members from their resources and deprives children of essential elements for healthy development. Laughter and performing arts entail benefits which transcend socioeconomic status and cultural differences.
